CFB Saturday 6 Pack Week 3

College football is entering its third week and hasn't disappointed so far. Funny how things change once the games are being played.  The Big 10 is seemingly eliminated from the playoff talk. Several highly touted teams coming into the season are struggling mightily. And believe it or not, Maryland and Oregon have another uniform combo.  A relative slow week for college ball so College GameDay makes their almost annual visit to Fargo, North Dakota. Last week was another subpar week on the money lines. We went 3-4 bringing the season tally to 6-7. Plenty of time to right the ship so here is this week's Saturday 6 Pack...

Incarnate Word +52.5
Really only picking this since GameDay is in Fargo. Top ranked FCS North Dakota St rolls today. But just not by 50 points.

Iowa St +12
Battle for the CyHawk Trophy features two struggling teams. Iowa is 0-2 against the spread so far.  Look for a nail bitter in Kinnick Stadium.

West Virginia +2
Maryland is 2-0 since joining the Big 10. Have a feeling West Virginia pulls the mild upset on the road.

Georgia -7
This weekends marque SEC match up. Spurrier's Gamecocks were the favorite to take the SEC East crown but haven't looked the part and now they have to stop Todd Gurley.

UCLA -9
Another game between struggling teams. Texas has some serious problems and things are going to get worse for Coach Strong. Todd Hundley gets his Heisman journey back on track.

Texas A&M -32.5
Watch out for another big game from Kenny "Thrill" Hill.

And the Sunday Chaser is New York Giants +2.  Enjoy the cool weather this weekend!

CFB Sturday 6 Pack Week 2

Who isn't completely jacked that football is back? There are some nice matchups this weekend and a huge non-conference showdown in the Great Northwest. After seeing the impressive list of home and home opponents that Ohio St has set up for the future, it's going to be real interesting as more teams follow suit.  Some huge non-conference matchups usually reserved for the Bowl season should become the norm with this new playoff system. Speaking of big games, as long as Wisconsin has McEvoy as their starting QB, they're not much of a contender. We got off to a rough start with a 3-3 opening weekend with a NC on the Idaho vs Florida game.  It can only get better, here is Saturday's 6 Pack...

Kansas St -13
We mistakenly thought the Cyclones were improving but last week's dismantling by FCS North Dakota St proved otherwise. Could they be overlooking a ranked opponent for THE game against rival Iowa next week?  Plus, per a Clones fan we know, Coach Rhoades sideline mannerisms are becoming annoying and embarrassing.

Missouri -4.5
If you haven't heard of Mizzou's Maty Mauk yet, you will have by season's end.

Stanford -3
Our dislike of USC made this easy. The Cardinal are looking to add to a 17 game home win streak. This should be a fun game to watch as a football fan.

Penn St -14
Not sure how Akron plans to slow down Christian Hackenberg, who threw for 454 yards last weekend.

Notre Dame -3.5
Had to include the final scheduled ND-Michigan tilt. Don't they play for the Golden Ukulele or something? Taking the home team with both teams being pretty evenly matched. Who will become the hero?

Mich St-Oregon Under 58.5
The Big 10 needs to start winning some of the high profile matchups as they have dropped behind the Big 12 in strength of conference. Oregon has had some struggles against top notch defenses lately and Sparty's D is pretty stout. Expect Michigan St to slow down the Ducks explosive offense a little. The Ducks will probably win by double figures but the under looks too tempting.

And this weekend's Sunday Chaser... Kansas City Chiefs -3.

Enjoy the games, enjoy the brews, and remember it's only the beginning. There's a lot more to come as the pigskin season rolls on.

CFB Saturday 6 Pack 8/30

The football season is finally here! And the road to the first college football playoff has begun. I'm enjoying flipping the tube between College Gameday and the Croke Park Classic so far this morning.  The nacho dip is stewing and the Leinenkugels is on ice, except for the one I just cracked to aid in my typing.  The first couple weeks of games are always interesting.  The lines seem to move a lot and there are so many unknowns. Even with the high profile ranked teams. Did I just hear Stone Cold Steve Austin is the guest picker? Sweet! Should be fun listening to everyone's excitement as the first Saturday action kicks off.  Here is today's 6 pack of picks...

Northern Iowa +19
Iowa's running game will dominate the second half and cement a Hawkeye victory but RB David Johnson and the rest of the Panther offense should be able to score enough to keep this one close and cover the points.

North Dakota St +3.5
The Cyclones continue to improve and are no longer everyone else's punching bag.  The three time defending FCS Championship Bison football factory of Pac-12 castoffs is trying to win their 25th consecutive contest.

UCLA -20
Bruin QB Brett Hundley begins his journey towards the Heisman Trophy and further fuels the media's lovefest for the Pac-12.

Florida - Idaho under 51.5
The Gators should be much improved this season and will win big in their opener.  Although it will still turn out to be Will Muschamp's final season in The Swamp. But can the Vandals score enough to get this game in the 50s.

Oregon -53.5
The Ducks score by passing, rushing, a return, and even a defensive TD on their way to 70 points.

LSU -4.5
Wisconsin continues the Big 10's dismal record against the SEC and the Tigers jump into the national title talks.  Should be some good smashmouth football with LSU's speed making the difference.

And the Sunday chaser is Tennessee -4.5. Good ol' Rocky Top.  Hunker down for the day, pound a few cold ones.  Its time to watch some football, so next week we can all be experts. Enjoy the games!

MHSC Hardwood Hills

First lap from the Missouri Hare Scramble Championship event at HHR on 6/15/14. Trail Rider class. My favorite venue so far this year.  Course had a little of everything and just flowed together nicely.

MHSC Americus Start

First few minutes of the D Trail Rider class Missouri Hare Scramble Championship in Americus. Good start (for me) and then the rest of the day was like a 3 Stooges film. Rest of the race to come later.
